Oxo Tower to launch new bar in November
The Oxo Tower restaurant, bar and brasserie is to launch a new bar this November.
The new bar, which will boast views of St Paul's Catherdral and the Thames, is being designed by Shaun Clarkson ID. Its interior will take some of the original design elements from the restaurant and brasserie, retaining the feel of a classic cruise liner, while introducing some strikingly modern touches.
The mustard yellow tub chairs and dark green bar stools have been designed to contrast with the dark wooden floors and a curved white corian bar. The back bar will feature a chrome mosaic lit with LEDs to help showcase bar manager Ian Goodman's new cocktail offering. The bar will also feature three curved booths, each seating six, with uninterrupted views over the Thames.
The new cocktail list will feature 50 drinks with a particular nod to artisan and epicurean drinks and aperitifs. The bar team at Oxo have created their own tinctures, bitters and cordials including rosehip syrup, sloe and damson gins, brandied cherries and elderflower cordial, used in the Dry Fino Spritz, an aperitif-style sherry spritzer.
Meanwhile, brasserie head chef Deon Jansen has created a new bar menu featuring dishes such as a shared plate of whole atlantic prawns and grilled octopus with romesco sauce, a steak sandwich or salads like marinated feta, avocado, mixed super sprout salad, with lime garlic yoghurt dressing.
