On the east side of the tracks as you pull into Waterloo station stands a collection of portable cabins. Most rail passengers probably don't pay them much attention and that is a big mistake.

Within these unprepossessing buildings is an exciting new artistic venture. Make Space Studios houses 60 different creative enterprises and the public will have their first chance to explore Waterloo's newest community of artists and designers at work in their studios.

Musical and artistic performances will be scheduled throughout the weekend, which coincides with the launch for the onsite 'Simulator Gallery' where several members of the community have curated an exhibition of work.

Make Space Studios is a new community of creatives with a vibrant, eclectic mixture of up and coming artists and artisans. The studios are multi-disciplinary with fine, applied and temporal arts and design all represented.

"The goal of Make Space Studios is to develop a creative environment where all arts and crafts are equal," says founder Rebecca Geary".

"Everyone learns from the skills of their fellow artisans as they work and further explore their own fields of expertise within a supportive and diverse community."

In these buildings there are painters, ceramicists, graphic designers, fashion designers, photographers, an arts management company, a stand-up group, sculptors, illustrators, interior architects, print makers, animators and theatrical costumers. It's a vibrant group with a mixture of established and experimental creatives.
