Public meeting to launch a new £40,000 annual fund for local projects.

The developers and occupiers of Bermondsey Square are looking to award a lump sum of money to the best initiatives that can ignite the local community.

They are calling for local people or organisations to develop ideas that will improve the health, happiness and well being of the neighbourhood.

The best one will be awarded a grant and put into practice. A real chance to make a real difference to your community.

Successful initiatives in the past have been creating a new football strip for the under 12s. Ideas can range from promoting health and fitness, improving the environment, sustainability, the historical and cultural heritage of the square, education, art and design or simply a one off event. Anything that looks to enhance the lives of those living there.

This Community Chest or grants will range from £250 to £1000 with a total of £40,000 per year. They will be handed out three times each year for unique ideas and schemes that bring something special to the area.

The money is provided by occupiers and owners of Bermondsey Square and managed by the Bermondsey Square Community Fund.
